However hard the surface is, the floor still has to run flat. We measure flatness as FF/FL face-flatness and levelness under ASTM E1155, so the target is testable and the finished slab is verified against it.

The number tracks the duty. A random-traffic floor with forklifts wandering in no set pattern is held to overall FF/FL values. Sizing the slab to the rack loads

A rack is a heavy building resting on a few steel plates about the size of a paperback. That concentrated rack load is what sets slab thickness — not the square footage, and not the forklift, which spreads its weight over a much larger contact patch than most people assume.
